Club Profile
The Rotary Club of Bombay Airport (RCBA), is one amongst the many prestigious Rotary Clubs of RI Dist. 3141. This 33-year-old club was chartered on 29.06.1988, has presently 127 members with diverse classification like doctors, engineers, professors, investment bankers, businessmen and entrepreneurs. We take pride in the fact that we have 2 District Governors and 2 AKS members .
Over the past years, RCBA has executed many community projects. Our flagship projects include 2 schools in the Tribal areas near Mumbai – The Adivasi Ashram Shala at Maswan has been a more traditional school project with 400 residential boys and girls, built by RCBA from scratch. Recently, we have built state of the art school with modern facticity at Ganjad, with 700 residential Adivasi boys and girls having a great learning experience. Both these schools have automated kitchen, solar lights and many other necessary facilities.
We have built number of much needed toilet blocks in various backward tribal areas near Mumbai to improve the sanitation conditions of the local people. Our club has also invested heavily into water management and solar energy projects in these areas.
Our club runs a Dialysis center with full-fledged set up of 8 dialysis machines at Vile Parle (W), to take care of patients with Kidney problems. At the same location, we also run a thalassemia center to treat patient with blood disorder.Another major thrust area of our club has been, contributing towards very large numbers of Pediatric Heart Surgeries, thereby saving lives of hundreds of infants and children.
Regular blood donation camps are conducted to augment depleted blood supply at Government run hospitals. Regular cancer and diabetes detection camps are held around suburban Mumbai, thus helping in the treatment of these diseases. Our club has provided Ambulances to many hospitals and government bodies to enhance medical services
Rotary’s another thrust area of Environment protection and water management is at the forefront of our activities. We have been actively involved in multiple Global Grant projects contributing to health, sanitation and water management.
Our club has recently installed first of its kind COVID Warrior Memorial, being a tribute to the COVID Warriors and volunteers at a major traffic circle at Bandra, Mumbai.
We have been consistently contributing to the Rotary Foundation. During the year 2020-21, our contribution to the Rotary Foundation was USD 4,30,000, highest in our district, and 16th in the Rotary World.
Our club has chartered 3 Rotary clubs - Rotary Club of Mumbai Parleshwar, Rotary Club of Goregaon West and Rotary Club of Mumbai Coastline, thereby enhancing footprint of Rotary in our district.
RCBA has chartered 7 Rotaract Clubs and 13 Interact clubs and is known in the district for its active participation in the youth exchange program.
Our club is planning many more big community projects and would welcome, foreign Global Grant partners as well as like-minded corporates with CSR funding to help us continue contributing to the society.
